Shane Bernhard Neufeld is an artist and architect and the founder of Light and Air, an architecture studio focused on residential design and cultural projects. His practice unites painting and architecture through a shared exploration of perception—how light, color, materiality, and space shape our sense of place. Working directly from observation, his paintings distill the North American landscape into vibrant, geometric compositions, giving form to the interplay between what is seen and what is felt. This same sensitivity to natural and urban environments informs his architecture, shaping spaces that enrich daily life through elemental qualities and moments of unexpected discovery. Across both disciplines, Neufeld’s work unfolds as a sustained dialogue between observation and imagination, landscape and inhabitation.
He studied Fine Arts and Literature at Amherst College and holds a Master of Architecture from Yale University. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York.
